The sun has a knack for changing the mood of an ordinary day. Curtains open, a warm patch appears on the floor, and suddenly the family cat has found a much better place to sit. Even a brief sunny spell can make a familiar street feel welcoming again after a run of gray mornings.

That everyday pleasure is part of the appeal of Sun coloring pages. There is warmth in the subject without any need to rush, pack a picnic, or check the forecast. A few quiet minutes with this familiar star can feel like a small invitation to slow down and enjoy the light.

Coloring Ideas for Sun Pages

Try these creative ideas to make the most of your coloring sheets.

Give the Sun a Morning Expression

The wide, empty center of this sun leaves plenty of room for a face. Draw two sleepy eyes and a small yawning mouth, or open the eyes wide for someone who is ready to start the day. The curling rays already supply a rather impressive morning hairstyle.

Yellow in the center and orange along the rays will keep the face warm and bright. A little pink on the cheeks can give the expression extra character without filling the circle with details.

Ask the person coloring to choose the expression before drawing it. A tiny upward curve at each end of the mouth is enough to turn a sleepy sun into a cheerful one.

Make a Sunny Clock for Breakfast Time

Breakfast at seven or a snack at three? The clear double circle in this sun makes a handy clock face for practicing familiar times. Write 12, 3, 6, and 9 first, then fit the other numbers between them inside the inner circle.

Keep the center pale yellow and make the narrow ring orange so the numbers stay readable. The long rays can be any sunny shade without having to match the hour positions.

With adult help, attach two paper hands at the center using a paper fastener. Make one hand noticeably shorter than the other. Set a favorite time together, then move the hands for whatever comes next in the day.

Put the Spiral Sun on a Summer Notebook

The spiral and pointed rays give this sun a bold center for a summer notebook cover. Its zigzag rays reach out between the longer points, so the whole shape can stand on its own without needing a landscape around it.

Try gold in the spiral, orange in the triangles, and turquoise in the diamond shapes. Repeating those three colors will tie the different parts together without hiding the printed pattern.

With adult help, cut a generous square around the sun and glue it onto the notebook, leaving the delicate tips intact. Write the summer's year underneath. Inside, there is room for beach finds, ice cream ratings, and small adventures worth remembering.
