A branch can look like a remarkably comfortable seat when a sloth is draped over it. The long limbs and curved claws make an arrangement that seems quite impractical for anybody else, yet entirely right for the animal.

Sloth coloring pages take their cue from that familiar easygoing character. It is the sort of creature that can carry a belated greeting or appear on someone's favorite pajamas without needing much explanation. A child may be drawn to its huggable appearance; an adult may appreciate the complete absence of hurry. The sloth has very little to prove, which is a large part of its charm.

Coloring Ideas for Sloth Pages

Try these creative ideas to make the most of your coloring sheets.

Make a Hammock for a Small Toy

This sloth has found a hammock between two palms, complete with a coconut drink. A soft cloth can become a similar resting place for one small toy at home.

A coral hammock and green palms would make a sunny combination. Fold a handkerchief lengthwise and drape its ends over two low, sturdy blocks, leaving a shallow dip in the middle.

Set a small toy in that dip and adjust the cloth until it sits comfortably. A child could draw a little paper drink with an umbrella to place alongside it, borrowing the sloth's holiday arrangement. The printed palms can provide a backdrop if the colored page is propped behind the toy's new resting spot.

Find the Pattern Inside a Leaf Umbrella

The sloth's umbrella is one large leaf, with a central vein and smaller lines branching away from it. A fallen leaf can supply a real version of that pattern.

A deep green umbrella and a warm brown sloth would look lovely against pale blue raindrops. Place the fallen leaf beneath another sheet of paper and rub over it with the side of a crayon.

The raised veins will appear as the rubbing grows. Compare their arrangement with the lines inside the pictured umbrella, then draw a simple handle beneath the new leaf print. A child will have another leaf umbrella of their own, ready for an extra sloth drawn underneath if they would like one.

Borrow the Sloth's Picnic Menu

The picnic has sandwiches, a slice of watermelon, and fruit beside the basket. Borrow that simple menu when planning a family lunch to eat away from the usual table.

A red checked cloth, green grass, and a soft brown sloth would make the scene inviting. A child can choose which of the pictured foods should come on the family's own picnic.

They might ask for a favorite sandwich filling or decide that the watermelon is the essential part. Lay a cloth out at home and work out where the basket, plates, and fruit would sit. If the weather changes, the picnic can move onto the living room floor, with the colored page joining the meal as its first planning note.

Give the Sloth Some Household Mail

The uniform, shoulder bag, and open mailbox make this sloth look ready for a delivery round. A few folded notes can give a child a small postal job around the house.

A blue uniform and red mailbox would be a cheerful choice. Draw a little picture on each note to show where it belongs, such as a sofa, a bed, or the kitchen table.

Put the notes in a bag and let the delivery person find the matching places. Someone else can collect the mail and write a short reply, ready for the next round. The pictured sloth can be the post office's mascot, waiting beside the bag when all the little deliveries are done.

Give the Sloth a Knitted-Looking Hat

The beanie has a broad ribbed cuff and a fluffy pompom, giving this tree-climbing sloth one very cozy accessory. Borrow the colors of a favorite winter hat for it.

Plum purple with a golden pompom would stand out warmly beside the brown tree trunk. A small tuft of yarn glued over the drawn pompom can add a little real woolly texture.

A few short pieces of the same yarn can follow the ribs along the cuff. Press them into a thin line of glue with a fingertip, then let the hat dry. The result is a small clothing design with the soft details in exactly the places where the printed beanie already suggests them.

Design a Board for the Sloth Surfer

The sloth is riding a long board with its arms spread and goggles over its eyes. Give that board a finish borrowed from a beach towel or swimsuit you like.

Turquoise water and a coral-colored board would make a bright seaside pairing. A wide white wave or a row of small yellow suns could become the board's own pattern.

The long nose of the board gives the design somewhere to stretch beyond the sloth's feet. A child could draw the same pattern on a separate board shape for another imaginary surfer, changing the colors for a second version. The two designs can share a favorite motif while still looking like boards chosen by different riders.
